Joint Perspectives , a young design studio based in London formed by María Meller and Mirja Sick, recently completed a sideboard using discarded pieces of materials. Using copper and oak, the irregularity of the pieces, which were laid side by side to create the design, has an intense visual impact. The pieces of copper and oak are in different stages of their lives – from old weathered oak is matched up with sheets of copper left outside for a month.

Based in Austin, Texas, the design studio LEBORED is run by Alex Shilin and Jennifer Eshelman. They create unique objects in limited editions and currently they have a series of wood vessels that are pretty sweet. Some of the vessels have feet and some don’t, some are hand painted while others are stained. Each one is unique and sealed on the inside to protect the wood from water in case you use yours as a vase. Each month the duo goes to town on a new idea or theme and sets out to create a collection, never really knowing where the idea will take them.

I’m usually not a huge fan of reworking the classics, but I kind of like these Amateur Masters Chairs by Jerszy Seymour for Ngispen . The classic modernist forms are reimagined using a hand-molded production technique from polycaprolactone wax.

Big Hands I know you’re the one! The Big Hands Clock by Yenwen Tseng is a wall clock with the intention of exploring the perception of time. By adjusting the proportion and relative position of normal clock hands, hour and minute, the two hands interact inseparably and show various expressions of time at every moment. The Big Hands Clock will be exhibited at the Fresh Taiwan exhibition at Tent London .

Materials: Any furniture Expedit series, two or three little selves, polyethylene foam (or manila rope), two scratching boards Description: The aim is to create a space in which the cat can climb to the top of the main shelf, finding footholds in their path, they can also serve to drop to the floor when he wants. In our house, there’s always someone’s laptop on the coffee table, the kitchen table or the counter area in the kitchen. It never fails. I just moved both mine and my fiance’s this morning to a more discreet place. Maybe that’s why I’m leaning towards to today’s product pick of the Retro Bureau.

A compact workspace that’s sleep and modern? One that closes to conceal all the laptops and tablets floating around our house? I’ll take it! It would be so nice to have something like this in my home, since it doesn’t take up too much space and we can sit down and open it up whenever we needed to do some work, pay some bills, stalk on Facebook, whatever. And then close it up and no one would know what was hiding inside!

The Retro Bureau is made in Germany from metal, in a variety of colors to choose from. The top has elastic holders to keep items in place and the bottom has a convenient storage drawer. When opened, a linoleum working space is revealed, which also includes LED lights.
