Materials: 3x Vika Amon tabletops 1x Galant table legs (only the table legs not the tabletop), 1x Chipboard (it should be a bit smaller than the size of the three tabletops) Description: Why are we hacking? We are a new company in Denmark and needed some furniture to fill our office. As a entrepreneurial company it was not necessary to have expensive designer furniture filling up our office, however, we would like some good looking furniture that fulfills our needs. Where else to go but IKEA! What to do? 1.

Evan Bare is at the helm of the Toronto-based 608 Design where he designs and builds a collection of environmentally conscious upholstered seating. The line is made so that the pieces can be taken apart for transportation, as well as making it easy to have the parts replaced if need be. One of the coolest aspects though is the incorporated storage that the pieces have.

Guillermo Bernal holds an architecture degree from Pratt but spends his day cranking out complex and fascinating work using his specialties of algorithmic design and advance digital fabrication. This Exocarp Chair was inspired by the scaly nature of a reptile’s skin, as well as the rough skins of foods like cantaloupes and avocados. Both of those skins are used for protection, and in the reptile’s case, as a way to reduce moisture loss in the skin.

I love hanging plants but I’ve never been a fan of those plastic or faux ceramic looking planters they come in. Australian company Mister Moss to the rescue! They’ve created a line of indoor/outdoor hanging moss balls filled with plants that are handmade and one-of-a-kind. They come in a variety of plants but what makes them truly unique is the various colored string that they’re wrapped in and suspended from.

Smart Console  is a minimalist desk designed by German-based designer  André Schelbach for Yomei . Introduced at IMM Cologne 2012 , this desk features a plethora of functionality including storage space, power outlets, and wire management. The console is ostensibly minimalist and sleek, but all of the components are hidden inside. The velvet-lined drawers are perfect to store and power up any electronic peripheries such as cell phones, hard drives, and music players. Variably positioned magnets are used to organize wires; the cables can be run underneath the desk through a metal frame which are kept completely invisible from the user.

Last night, I co-hosted a lovely event at PATCH NYC’s Boston shop and studio with Target to celebrate PATCH NYC’s collection for The Shops at Target , which launches on September 9th. We wined, dined, and talked design. It was great spending time getting to know John Ross and Don Carney and their fantastic courtyard shop and studio in Boston, the story behind their collection for Target, and the experience of being a small brand collaborating with a big brand. I especially love how closely the duo pays attention to the details and the handmade, personal feel of every item – their space feels like one big treasure hunt. Israeli designer Shmuel Linski created an espresso machine called Espresso Solo using concrete as the primary material. He wanted to make a desirable consumer product for the kitchen from concrete to complement the other more typical uses of concrete in our kitchens such as walls or countertops. Loving the contrast between the metal parts and the raw concrete.
