Weekly Six: 12/23/11

Happy Eve of Christmas Eve! Are you ready for the holiday festivities this weekend? I am! (But I need a nap first.)

Here’s this week’s Weekly Six – if you have time to check them out!

1) Let me just get this out of the way: I need that diamond immediately. IMMEDIATELY! (It’s made by Ron van der Ende)

2) Since it’s getting colder, let’s dream of spending time in warm weather on this awesome modern outdoor furniture that looks like it melted into the ground.

3) There’s still time to make some chocolate truffles for the holidays!

4) And also time to make these DIY bows from leftover magazines.

5) Here’s a DIY for after the holidays: lacquered bowls for all the jewelry you got for Christmas or Hanukkah!

6) If you have little ones, I suggest uploading a photo of your home to shown them how you caught Santa leaving their presents. I love this idea! (Image from their Flickr page)

And that’s all! Have a lovely holiday weekend and we’ll see you back here on Tuesday!

Holiday Wishlist 2010: Leo

We don’t do gift guides here on Design Milk because everyone does them. We like to be different. Last year, we did staff wishlists and once again we thought it would be fun to continue this new tradition and ask each current contributor what was on their wishlist this holiday season — realistic or pipe dream. So, for 2 weeks we featured staff wishlists — see them all here . These are some of my absolute FAVORITE designs that I would die to buy

Get Grilling

grill1

With everyone looking forward to the long holiday weekend coming up, I figured now is the time to feature this cool grill I’ve been wanting. Not only does it have a great look and come in an amazing selection of vibrant colors, its compact size makes it perfect for apartments, condos, and small spaces.

Called the FYRKAT, this charcoal grill is easily portable as well, so it’s perfect for tailgating too! Best of all, you can grab one in time for the summer holidays at a very reasonable 49.95. More here.

Puzzle Calendar

Calendars seem to be a popular holiday gift, and this is the time of year people seem to be popping up everywhere selling them. This one caught my eye partly because it looks cool and also because it’s interactive.  The Puzzle Calendar is made of colorful building blocks that can be rearranged to change the look of your calendar each month. There are also pieces made for special days like birthdays and holidays.  And it kind of looks like legos which is also pretty cool too in my opinion. Available here for a pretty reasonable $12.50.

Cork!

cork-ipod-holder

After coming across the work of designer Ryan Frank and his “Free Range Furniture” earlier today, I knew I wanted to post about it.  Not only is eco-friendly responsible and right now extremely in, but with Frank’s designs it’s also innovative and practical.

Called the Ipouch, this case is made from fabric backed 100% cork with custom stitched edging in your choice of color. Because it is made of cork, it is naturally water repellent and shock absorbent.  Everything you need in a cell phone case right?   The Ipouch is designed to fit the iPhone or Blackberry Curve. I hear laptop covers are also in the works, which I’m pretty excited about!

Ryan Frank has a lot of furniture on his site, everything from chairs to shelving that I highly recommend you check out.  This smaller item caught my eye as something to share with you today, since right now I have holiday shopping on the brain (and I’m guessing many of you do too!), and well this would make a great gift don’t you think?
