Dosuno Design has created Opentap, a collection of “open source furniture” that is — in an ideal world — low-cost and anyone can manufacture themselves. One reason they wanted to do this was “to promote creativity and innovation freely for the betterment of our world.” Their main goals with this collection were to allow access to affordable, sustainable furniture that can be easily distributed and assembled and will stand the test of time. Therefore, they decided to used pipe as one of the main materials – it lasts many many years, can hold up against water, heat and pressure, and can be easily manipulated and pieced together. Moreover, it’s fairly accessible and affordable.

Karre Design is manufacturing the YOUMOU Coffee Table , originally designed in 1959 by Sadi Ozis. The table, which I think resembles a planet with rings or an atom, has a special upholstered section for newspapers that can be covered in fabric or leather. It can be covered in water-resistant fabric for use outdoors. You can also get transparent or patterned glass

Timothy John has just released his new Woven Collection. The initial designs in this series were launched in 2010, as part of an experiment in hand-weaving techniques. The collection has since grown to five limited edition pieces: a traditional vase, pendant lights, a table and a clock. If you’re interested in purchasing any of these pieces please inquire through Design55

I met designer Luca Nichetto this past September when Foscarini invited Design Milk on a trip to its home office in Italy, and a tour of the Venice Biennale . Nichetto was one of four Foscarini designers, including past Friday Fivers Vicente Garcia-Jimenez and Ionna Vautrin , to join the group of bloggers to discuss not just their own works, but the hallmarks of good design overall. In addition to creating five lamp styles for Foscarini , Nichetto has designed items in pretty much every home category, including furniture for Casamania and Moroso, Venini vases, and even a porcelain sink and tub. For Friday Five , Nichetto revisits his youth and looks around at his everyday world.

The White & White Clock is designed by Vadim Kibardin and is meant to be a three-dimensional version of a traditional digital clock. We featured the original black and white incarnation years ago , but this new updated one is even more fantastic. It’s wall-mountable or props up on your desk or table with the attached kickstand

Studio Dreimann presented its Ike stool during Stockholm Design Week – a simple stool that was inspired by a burst pipe. The foot is made form a steel pip cut into three sections and then bent by a machine. The oak seat screws into the base and can be adjusted. A small hole allows you to rotate the seat up and down with your finger. Share This: Twitter | Facebook | Discover more great design by following Design Milk on Twitter and Facebook .

Instead of a weekly six this week, we’ve got an entire tower of dream homes from the Philippines. Acqua Livingstone is the only residential building in the world that will be completely branded by MissoniHome. There are currently two Missoni-branded hotels, one in Edinburgh and another in Kuwait.
The Acqua Livingstone condominiums are a result of a partnership between Century Properties and Missoni. To learn more about the collaboration and to see more renderings, visit their website.
Would you want to live in a Missoni-adorned home?

Made from Douglas fir with a screenprinted face, the Primary Clock was designed by London-based David Weatherhead and GOODD for Thorsten van Elten . The circular clock comes in two styles, one with a half circle of color and the other with segmented blocks of color. The half circle style can be hung three different ways displaying the color part either on the bottom, the right side, or at an angle.

Italian design company B-LINE is launching quite a few products in Milan at Salone this year, but I have my faves… The Park chair, designed by Neuland IndustrieDesign is the perfect modern stackable for the summer. The Liquorice bookshelf designed by Alessandro Masturzo looks like little tubes joined together like a package of Twizzlers. The Dock coat hanger shelf by B usetti Garuti Redaelli . I like how the hooks are nicely hidden and there is a shelf for all your other odds and ends. You can use the exterior to post notes, too
