Sofa Fleece Blanket Bin and Magazine Storage

Materials: VIKA ANNEFORS x2, White Emulsion Paint, Glue (Double-sided Adhesive Tape or Instant Grab Adhesive) Description: We needed somewhere to store our sofa's fleece blankets and my wife's collection of magazines and newspapers. We already had a white BESTA JAGRA TV Bench so I wanted a similar looking piece of furniture to put behind the sofa. Upon visiting our local IKEA store I spotted the VIKA ANNEFORS. Free Port by Martí Guixé

Martí Guixé has designed this Free Port cabinet for Spanish company BD Barcelona . Made of MDF that includes veneer of various types of wood with different lacquer finishes, the cabinet sits on aluminum and steel legs. I love that each storage section isn’t the same, meaning you can have this cabinet perform multiple uses such as an entertainment center, bookshelf and wine bar all in one. Deinde Collection from Elena Galli Giallini

Italian architect and designer Elena Galli Giallini has been living in Japan since 1995 and brings a multicultural education to her designs. She recently designed the Deinde Collection for Japanese furniture company Morishige . This collection incorporates the use of urushi, which is traditional Japanese lacquer, with modern furniture. Morishige is the leading producer of furniture with lacquer urushi so they decided to work with the designer to help bring the beauty of it to modern designs. The theme was “traditional within modernity” and they’ve done that beautifully with the artistry of the ancient lacquer techniques and the clean and minimal lines of the pieces.

Uovo Black Pearl

My house would be at least 1000 times more fabulous if I had one of these Uovo Black Pearl chandeliers hanging in it. Wouldn’t yours?

As uovo is Italian for “egg,” the egg-shaped attributes of this gorgeous chandelier are made using glass-blowing techniques and then finished in either gold or silver.

The Uovo Black Pearl is made by glass company Lasvit in collaboration with designer Rony Plesi.

What do you think of the Uovo?

Greenhouse at the Stockholm Furniture Fair

Lund School of Architecture, clockwise from top left: Kim Ohrstrom, Kajsa Nillson, Christopher Polteg and Freja Elvin-Nowak Greenhouse, the hall at the  Stockholm Furniture Fair for design schools, students, and independent designers, was one of the most exciting sections of the fair. Gotland University, clockwise from top left: Henke Westling (top left and top right), Philip Bergstrom and Sahar Ballaei I’ve already written about  Malin Isaksson , about  Grow from the  University of Gothenburg , about  Alcro’s collaboration with students from  Beckmans College of Design and about  New Bacon , the super-styled stand from  The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, School of Design , but that by no means covers the prolific selection of student work on show. I shall therefore attempt to do justice to what remains, most of which was found within Greenhouse, but some of which was tucked away in different parts of the show. Clockwise from top left: Essi Similia from Aalto University part of the MA Students’ Everyday Tools stand; Sandra Cohen Callman from Beckmans College of Design part of the Never Mind The Object stand; Gaspar Gonzalez and Mikael Axelsson, also Beckmans College of Design Never Mind the Object from Beckmans School of Design asked “Why should you care about objects
