Materials: Expedit 5×5 (1), Expedit 1×5 (6), Inreda shelf (2), Lack coffee table (1), Lack 1×4 shelving unit (1), plastic shelf supports, acoustical cloth, table saw, drill, glue Description: Our family room is quite long, but not wide enough to accommodate additional chairs without the room becoming too overcrowded. Netherlands-based designer Ka-Lai Chan’s newest furniture collection, The Ordinary Family, premiered during OBJECT Rotterdam 2012 . The Ordinary Family can now be seen at Judy Straten Gallery . Consisting of five pieces, the collection was inspired in part by Chan’s own family observations as well as observing families around her. It includes a rocking horse, coffee table, side table, praying chair and the No Sign of Design chair — a basic practical chair by the influential Dutch designer Richard Hutten.

South Korean design studio Monocomplex took the inspiration for their latest lamp directly from a scene in nature. Appropriately named Scene #01 , the lamp is reminiscent of a moon as viewed from behind the trees. Since I’ll be skiing in Colorado the next few days, I thought it would be fitting to post some images from a gorgeous home also in Colorado. If you’re a Real Housewives fan, you may recognize this as Camille Grammar’s house with Kelsey.
Currently on the market for $7.3 million, the Housewives took a quick trip to this home before Camille had to put it on the market. What I love most about it is the fact that you can ski right in and right out! But also that it’s rustic and cozy with a lot of modern aspects, and exactly where you want to spend a relaxing evening after a full day of skiing.
What do you think of this home?

Earl is a flexible light by German design firm Llot Llov that looks like a giant wooden bead necklace. A hook is also included so that you can position the light source anywhere you need it to be and then easily put it back in the pendant position. Photos by Patrik Flittner

There’s something about the texture that mongolian lamb fur adds to a room. I just love it.
In my own home, I’ve only gone as far as two fur pillows, but I certainly wouldn’t mind a fully furry chair. The chair in that first image is a regular old chair with a mongolian lamb throw literally thrown over it. What a difference.
How about mongolian fur bedding? I imagine sleeping under that fur blanket would be a bit hot and uncomfortable, but who cares about that when it looks unbelievably fantastic?
What do you think of mongolian fur?

Every time I go to type Shiny Hammer I want to type Shiny Happy People… holding hands… (if you get that song stuck in your head for the rest of the day, you’re welcome). I love these aluminum products from French company Shiny Hammer – they’re a breath of fresh air from the usual plastic and wood. Founded by designer Samuel Aguiar, Shiny Hammer’s pieces are handmade in France one at a time. Oh, and they also make pretty-painted aluminum products, too: Share This: Twitter | Facebook | Discover more great design by following Design Milk on Twitter and Facebook . © 2012 Design Milk | Posted by Jaime in Home Furnishings | Permalink | No comments
