Cirkel by Daphna Laurens

Cirkel by Daphna Laurens just opened at Galerie Gosserez in Paris, featuring works based on the circle. The design duo of Daphna Isaacs Burggraaf and Laurens Manders, based in The Netherlands, took the basic circular form and experimented with creating lighting, tables and objects all drawn from the same shape. Each piece began as a simple circle, then the form was created and finally, a function was formed. Photos by Roelofs / Daphna Laurens. Cirkel by Daphna Laurens just opened at Galerie Gosserez runs through January 14, 2012.

House Number

In preparation for my holiday cards, (and since this is the first holiday season that my boyfriend are living together and our addresses are no longer the same as our parents!) I wanted something fun, yet sophisticated. However, since we both have different last names, all of those labels that say “The Smith Family” or “John and Mary Smith” just wouldn’t work for us. (I told him that better change by the next holiday season, don’t you worry!)

Just when I thought I’d have to hand-write our address on my cards, I found these House Number return address labels by Sara Luke Creative / Less Ordinary Designs on Etsy.

Aren’t they perfect? (Especially for a non-married couple!!) Simple, but fabulous. And available in any color you want. I ordered them around 10 pm last night and there was a proof in my inbox at 7:50 this morning. I can’t wait to see how they look in person!

How about you? Have you ordered new labels from your holiday cards?

Six Different Christmas Trees

It’s December 1st and many people out there have already had their tree and other holiday decor up since last week. Are you one of them?

I’m not! I wanted to wait until December 1st this year, just to enjoy that last bit of fall lingering in my house. But now I’m ready to get started and I may even pull in some inspiration from these six different Christmas trees. And since many don’t celebrate Christmas, we’ll have something for Hanukkah tomorrow!

If you do celebrate Christmas, have you decorated your tree yet? Does it look like any above?

Garland Coaster and Trivets by Mauricio Affonso

Brazilian-born London-based designer Mauricio Affonso created these interlocking Garland coasters for Umbra that can be interlocked to create a trivet. The silicone material is heat-resistant and durable to protect your precious table from heat and/or condensation. I think the dual nature of this product makes it invaluable for entertaining.

Six Different Wine Glasses

I’m thinking of investing in some big, beautiful wine glasses. There’s something about a huge wine glass that makes drinking wine so much more enjoyable. Throw in some color or a unique design and it doesn’t matter if its wine or water being poured into that glass.

Plus, ’tis the season for entertaining. And one of these gorgeous glasses would look way better on my kitchen table every once in a while instead of my boring IKEA glasses over and over again. Don’t you agree?
