Cubes of Color is a series of modern lighting cubes that bring colorful light to the table.
Six colors of plexiglass shades are available – ruby red, emerald green, turquoise, yellow, royal blue and clear frosted. Each has matching hand-cut glass rods, except for the clear frosted which has royal blue rods.

With a 1 1/4″ inch frosted base, the Cubes of Color appear to be floating on the glowing light.
The Cubes of Color are hand-assembled and designed by Andarina Designs.

Clark Davis moved a lot in his lifetime and each time he was frustrated trying to pack furniture into a tiny car. He decided it was time for someone to create furniture that came flatpacked, was easy to assemble, but — unlike big box flatpacked furniture — was also easy to disassemble and repack flat for moving to its next home. The result is Gypsy Modular , a company that he is still trying to get off the ground on Kickstarter .

Inspired by traditional wooden shipbuilding techniques, Maritime is a solid wood range of chairs that are skinned internally with a formed plywood shell. Designed by Benjamin Hubert for Casamania , Maritime’s construction technique — where the supports are visible on the outside — allows for a distinctive design language that is in harmony with the material and production. The ribs allow for a structurally robust chair with minimum use of material

The Form Follows Function Sofa is a modern step away from the ordinary cushioned sofa.
Designed by Daan Mulder, the Form Follows Function Sofa was inspired by the “craze for organic liquid and forms.” Mulder’s “aim was to create a sofa where all functions arise out of one current line.” ( http://www.daanmulder.eu/FFF_bank_11.html)

The Form Follows Function Sofa is made from three steel plates that are each 1.5 millimeter thick. A silver paint gives the modern sofa its final look.
Daan Mulder is based out of Amsterdam and wears many design hats, including carpenter, architect, interior designer and furniture designer.

The Practice of Everyday Design has a new piece — the Log Chop Bench , which represents an exploration in process-based design. They decided to approach the concept of this one-off piece by setting up a series of parameters that would define the final product without them relying on drawings or a concrete final image. Given little instruction and a loose sketch the log was debarked and the seats were axed out by a professional “Lumberjill.” The roughly chopped log seats were then mediated by the fine, hand-sewn upholstery by a motorcycle saddle maker. The project was a fluid evolution from an abstract idea into a physical sculpture that represents a dialogue between the designers and their collaborators. The Log Chop Bench will be auctioned off at the Stellar Living 2011 Contemporary Art & Design Auction for Mercer Union in Toronto, Ontario, on May 12, 2011.

Materials: Lack Side Table Legs and Lazy Susan Table Tops Description: This creation was inspired by the 24 left over Lack Side Table legs I had after I created a headboard for my King size bed (See the post entitled “Headboard fit for a King-sized bed” for more details on that project). This table took a couple of sequential steps before finally assembling each piece to form the final table. First I designed three “+” shaped legs using five Lack Side Table legs, per leg and used double sided carpet tape to hold each “+” shape secure. For each “+” table leg, I cut out a 7″ diameter piece of MDF and attached each “+” leg to the MDF using 14 x 1″ flat head screws after pre-drilling with a countersink bit. I used metal brackets on the opposite side of the “+” legs to secure the whole leg together.
