By applying CNC-assisted cutting along with advanced traditional craftsmanship he creates a work of seamless quality with a contemporary edge. I love how the plywood separates where the arms meet the back, yet the harmony of the design is continuous. I don’t do many book reviews or ask to see any in person very often, but Hella Jongerius ‘ new book for Phaidon called Misfit was one of those books that I needed to get my grubby paws on immediately. When it came in the mail I was so excited — the beautiful way it is bound with string, so simple with a handmade feel. Sorry for the terrible photos, but it’s hard to take photos of a book, especially when you’re a bad photographer to begin with

Dune is an eco-friendly and modular outdoor furniture set. Each piece is made from 3D molded natural fiber cement. With six different designs to be mixed and matched, Dune can be expanded indefinitely. Some of the units have a flat surface while others have a concave and slight back.
Designed by Austrian designer Rainer Mutsch, Dune is 100% recyclable.
In 2009, Dune won the Red Dot Design Award and the Good Design Award in 2010. It is also nominated for the Brit Insurance Designs of the Year 2011. To get a glimpse into how the Dune is made, have a look at this video.
