I love Lorna Syson’s sculptural pillows and her new eco-friendly collection is launching at 100% Design in late September. The pillows are inspired by the British countryside in spring, particularly the shapes and colors created in the wild rural hedgerows. Lorna’s pillows are made in Britain with locally sourced and eco-friendly fabrics sponsored by Camira .

Funny name, great lamps. Mammalampa is a Latvian brand that creates lighting apparently to declare gentle war on “making lamps differently without adapting, killing or violently beautifying materials.” My favorite are the “Bride” lamps designed by Ieva Kaleja, which have unique braided paper shades that look like something out of a fairy tale — like Rapunzel . It also reminds me of the Frisa lamp by Anika Engelbrecht

At your next party your guests will be all talking about your clever drink glasses! The Vino Mug and the Bottoms Up Beer Glass made me chuckle, then kind of want to buy a half-dozen of each… © 2010 Design Milk | Posted by Jaime in Home Furnishings | Permalink | No comments | Tweet This | Share on Facebook

He can huff and he can puff as much as he wants, but the big bad wolf definitely won’t be able to blow down a house of concrete.
Designed by Spanish architect group A-cero, the Concrete House II is located just outside of Madrid. The outside walls are made of dark gray concrete and built with strips of grass between them to create the illusion that the house is actually part of land. With an indoor spa and swimming pool, home theater, wine room and parking garage, the Concrete House II is a luxurious retreat. Even some of the modern decor and furniture appears to be made from concrete!

A-cero’s blog tells us that the Concrete House II is a single story home that measures at 1600 square meters, which is about 17,222 square feet. Imagine living in a space that big. It would be great for a good ol’ game of hide-and-seek…
So what do you think – would you live in the Concrete House II?

The Carpet by Laurens van Wieringen was constructed from many little “foam-bars” in different colors and heights. Together these foam bars show an image of a landscape in color and a relief in height, kind of like a topographic map. Laurens worked with the help of 29 friends to put together the carpet. © 2010 Design Milk | Posted by Jaime in Home Furnishings | Permalink | 1 comment | Tweet This | Share on Facebook
