Here’s something fun (& funny!) for your Friday. Table Man is a truly unique seating solution, with tables and chairs that together form the image of a man. Where you might use this I don’t know, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t creative!

Table Man is the work of Jean Jullien, and was presented at the Designers Furniture show on June 25th. See more of her work here.
Happy Friday friends! Be sure to check back Monday for more fun design.

Benjamin Hubert is back with a new design, a bookshelf called Foundation for Heal’s . Foundation is made of a dark grey Valchromat with incorporated folded steel powder coated box files with matching leather pull handles. The combination of industrial materials and softer tactile details emphasizes the brutalist language while retaining a sense of tradition found in the leather bindings of books. Valchromat is a wood fiber board colored with organic dyes specifically developed and bonded with resin to ensure that the natural appearance and characteristics of the fiber remain in tact. The wood is sourced from forest waste and recycled pine.

Inspired by pixelated images (who would have thought?!) the Zero PXL Lamp Series is unique in its idea and bold in its design. Designer Frederik Mattson took the form of the traditional lamp and cut it up into rings, disassembled it, and then reassembled it to create the final design you see here. Each features a combination of vibrant colors that are sure to get plenty of attention.

The Zero PXL Lamp Series is the work of Frederik Mattson for Zero.

The idea behind the Resin Fossil Table is almost as cool as its look, which in this case is saying a lot. The Resin Fossil Table comes from Nucleo and the idea behind is is to design the furniture of its objects, making them fossils of themselves. Like archaeologists find the imprint of an original item in a fossil, this table is handmade using fiberglass and pigment and consists of a single empty block that traces the object from which it takes its shape. Cool right?
The Resin Fossil Table is currently on display at the Gabrielle Ammann Gallery. More from Nucleo here.

Resinite is the new experimental research from studio Nucleo , who plays on the presumption to design the future of its objects making them fossils of themselves. As with the trace fossils where we find the imprint of the original item, in the same way the implementation process that creates the object leads to the destruction of its original. The first object of the Resinite collection is “Resin Fossil Table,” handmade using fiberglass and pigment, the table consists of a single empty block that accurately traces the object from which it takes shape. © 2010 Design Milk | Posted by Jaime in Home Furnishings | Permalink | No comments | Tweet This | Share on Facebook
