Maybe there’s no window in your office, or maybe there is but you don’t like the view.   Worry no more, thanks to Fantasy Shades from Melissa Borrell. These shades do exactly as their name implies, enabling you to look out at a more favorable reality. There are city skylines and several nature-inspired scenes to choose from, though custom shades are also available so there’s really no limit to the scenes available.  I think this is a great idea, though it’s another one of those things I can’t believe no one (including me) has ever thought of before. The latest project from Daniel Dendra and anOTHERArchitect is peakT (Noisy Tea Time), a table that represents Cairo’s soundscape. One of the noisiest cities in the world, Cairo suffers from car pollution, so recorded sound snips from various intersections were used to generate this piece of furniture. The environmental problem that affects many large cities around the world is translated into wood and metal by way of sound, referencing the noise experienced by pedestrians in Cairo.

To be launched at 100% Design in London next week, Pebble is a series of seating (one chair and two stools) by Benjamin Hubert for De Vorm. He tells us, “The furniture collection is inspired by the form of beach pebbles found washed up by the sea. The design is a combination of rotational moulding, solid oak and CNC formed metal. Rotational moulding is predominantly used for large outdoor furniture. Pebble brings this material indoors and adds an increased sense of sophistication through its form, finish and combination with other materials. Pebble has a low carbon footprint as the seats are manufactured from recyclable polyethylene and the knock down construction contains no additional fixings. The legs locate into the moulded top and are held together under tension by the powder coated steel band.”
