The simple Aurora Lamp by The Good Flock is hand turned and assembled in Oregon. I love that you can use this lamp on a desk surface or mount it to the wall as a sconce with a single screw. Made of white oak and finished with 100% Tung Oil, this lamp kind of reminds me a bit of a candlestick. It also comes in a black finish.

It’s that time of year to start preparing [and dreaming of] outdoor spaces. An outdoor sofa set is one of my biggest dreams, and this may be one of the best I’ve seen – because it lights up!!
The Sirchester Collection is made of the Poltrona [chair] and the Divano [sofa]. Both are suitable for indoor and outdoor use, and are available in a wide variety of colors. The light effect happens from an RGB light system within each modern sofa and armchair.
Available at Serralunga, the Sirchester collection is designed by deep design. Can’t you imagine yourself lounging with family and friends on one of these bad boys? I know I can – all year long!

InVaso is one interesting looking vase because it’s made out of sponge, the same type of sponge you use to wash your car. Sponges are meant to hold water, which is one of the necessary factors to keep plants alive. Realized by industrial designer Stefano Claudio Bison , this container or vase is holding soil and plants, which contain other elements like mineral salts. So essentially what you have is a container of plants and soil that in turn are containers themselves of minerals and other elements. They resemble clay pots that you see everywhere but in fun, vibrant colors.

German design group Voxel Studio created SUESSLICHT , a pendant lamp made of sugar. Each shade is formed in a cone-like shape that resembles a sugarloaf, which is the original form that refined sugar was produced and sold. Partnered with simple hardware and primary colored, textile-covered cords, these lights are pretty sweet (sorry, I couldn’t resist). The shades are made when sugar crystals are mixed with a water base, then pressed and dried, forming the thin, crystalline shell

Lately all I want in my home is vaulted ceilings. I’ve been stalking homes for sale and will only keep scrolling through the pictures if I see either a kitchen or a bedroom with high, vaulted ceilings. It really makes such a difference in a room when the ceilings are higher than normal – and there are so many different styles you can implement – with lighting and paint colors and molding. And skylights to add even more light and openness.
If I could have a house with super high ceilings in the kitchen AND in the bedroom, it would be heaven. My absolute dream home. But then I thought, which would I rather? Because most likely, I’m not going to be able to have both! I have to say, I think if it came down to it – I’d go for the bedroom. Even though more time is spent in the kitchen than in the bedroom, there’s just something more exciting about a master suite with high ceilings in comparison to one without.
But a open, vaulted kitchen would be excellent for entertaining….
What are your thoughts? If you had to choose between a master bedroom with high ceilings or a kitchen, which would you rather?

Studio Segers has designed a simplistically unique furniture and accessory collection with a universal element incorporated into each piece – poles made of oak wood. Whether it’s the legs of a table or hooks on a wall, the pole is the theme of the (obviously named) Pole Collection . Now available through Mookum , the collection combines white lacquered metal with the warm wood giving it a bit of a Scandinavian feel

Run by Russel Koskela and Sasha Titchkosky, Australian company Koskela makes furniture for both the home and office. I was particularly drawn to their pieces that incorporate pops of super bright colors and neons. I’m just not over this trend yet… Above: PBS Table This extra-low sofa was inspired by Russel’s dachshund, Rudi, who is also long and low! Notice the bright yellow/green piping

Did you watch the Oscars last night? I had them on in the background while doing other things, but lately I’ve enjoyed hunkering down in the living room and watching the different awards shows that have been on. It’s always fun to see what the different celebrities are wearing, and wondering what many of them were thinking! I also like to watch them in their seats to see if they’re actually paying attention or who they go to when they win.
This year, I’m embarrassed to say that I don’t think I’ve seen one of the movies that are nominated. I’ve been dying to see Silver Linings Playbook, Anna Karenina, Les Miserables, Argo and Lincoln. I’m sure I could think of more – but those are the movies at the top of my list. After watching the Oscars, I’m definitely in the mood to start checking the movies off my list! Which movies have been your favorites?
As far as the fashion for the evening went, I’m loving the fuller dresses, like those worn by Amy Adams and Jennifer Lawrence. I also loved the pink dress worn by Kerry Washington. Charlize Theron also looked beautiful in all white. I never realized how tall she is – Adele either! Seems like everyone looked tall next to Kristin Chenoweth, who looked great as well.
What did you think of the fashion at the Oscars? Who’s dress was your favorite?

I don’t know how your bathroom is set up but my mirror seems to be a million miles away from me and I have to contort and get up on my tippy-toes just to look closely at my face. I actually have to go and use another mirror to put on mascara… I find it to be very frustrating, and I’m sure, ladies, I’m not alone, right?
