One of the absolute highlights of imm cologne was D3 Design Talents , a selection of award-winning products from up-and-coming designers. The tenth D3 contest saw 671 submissions from students and recent graduates from all over the world. Just 21 products from 27 designers were selected. And from those 21, these were my favorites… This folding screen entitled “And A And Be And Not” by Berlin-based designer Camilla Richter is made from different color transparent sections, which change color according to the light and where you’re standing when you look at it. The shapes and colors created by the piece itself and by the shadows and reflections are mesmerising.

Gothenburg, Sweden-based design studio, Design Stories , set out to create a collection made of industrial waste material produced by local companies. Working in collaboration with a group of producers and artisans called Returhuset , Merry-Go-Round was born. The pieces are made from materials that would normally be thrown away as trash and the results are a charming collection of lamps and tables with an interesting story to tell

We all love to curl up on the sofa for a nap or a marathon TV watching session ( Duck Dynasty , anyone?) and the Collerette convertible pouf, designed by Les M Design Studio for Casamania , is the perfect aid for that. Available in a single or double version, the footrest has a rolled-up blanket attached to cover your feet when you’re ready to get cozy. It doubles as a chair when you need extra seating – just roll up the blanket. It’s been a while since we’ve peaked into some fabulous homes for sale. Take a look at this beauty offered by Savills in the United Kingdom.
The white and black living room into dining room – with that lucite coffee table is just gorgeous. I’m loving the white walls and white floors, too. It’s bright and modern and inviting, not overdone.
And how about that toilet? Who knew a toilet could bring so much joy?! [I never imagined saying that about a toilet!]
There’s also an awesome patio for entertaining, although I would probably add an outdoor heater so I could utilize its beauty for more months out of the year! My parents and younger brothers live in London, so I wouldn’t mind moving there. Plus, it looks like this home is in the Mayfair area – with fabulous shopping!
What’s your favorite part of this home, from these images?

German designer Sebastian Scherer has created a series of tables called Isom . The tables are made completely in 10mm sheets of blue, green, grey, and bronze glass, each with a hexagon-shaped top. Supported by three pieces of rectangular glass vertical panels, the tops appear to form rhombuses when looking down at them because of the edges of the base pieces. Placing multiple tables together creates really cool optical illusions, especially when you mix the colors up.

If you recall the last time we featured Khalid Shafar , he had released a variety of stools and chairs using Danish rope . This time, he’s created two new pieces that caught my eye. Anything with the word “lazy” in the name, you know I’m sure to be there! Lazy Folds is a daybed that uses an old-school cotton stuffing technique that Shafar witnessed as a child in Bur Dubai while shopping with his mother. The folded mattress is actually one giant mattress folded seven times.

What I wouldn’t give for a modern workspace like the Hully, shown above.
Orange isn’t my color, but that’s ok because they come in plenty of other desirable colors. I’m also loving that the tabletop has a sleek wooden top – its such a chic little accent.
The best part is, if you’re not using the table-top you can flip it down and make it into a seat – so you either have two chairs, a desk and a chair – or two desks if you’re really smart and productive like that. As someone who works from home, these would be awesome. I could work right from my living room by day and then transform them into a seating area by night – or when people drop by.
Hully is made by a company called Design You Edit, a company that was created by two Italian companies that came together to create furniture that is completely editable. Seriously, they have so much awesome stuff that I could purchase it all and completely redo my home into a modern wonderland. I would even get a refinance mortgage if it meant that I could do it!
What do you think of Hully and the concept of editable furniture?

One of Artek’s most popular designs is turning 80 this year , and to celebrate the Alvar Aalto designed Stool 60 , they’re featuring the stools with colored tops that were the colors used in one of Aalto’s architectural designs at the time. They’re also partnering with architects and designers on a series of special edition stools (above) throughout the year. Completed in 1932, the Paimio Sanatorium was designed by Aalto to be a tuberculosis sanatorium in Paimio, Finland and the tops of this series of stools were inspired by the colors he used there. The yellow is from the floors, the green from the walls, turquoise from the handrails and walls, and the orange, black, and white are from the furniture. The classic 3-legged stool was the first of its kind because it was made of wood instead of tubular steel

Fabrica designers Charlotte Juillard and David Raffoul designed a system of custom display items for the newly remodeled United Colors of Benetton Miami flagship store called Table in Wonderland . The pastel-colored pieces reference Miami’s buildings with their Art Deco colors and forms. Debuting during the most recent Design Miami / Art Base l in December 2012, the collection will be used to display apparel and accessories in the store. The modular shaped pieces can fit together in a variety of ways making them look like the cityscape they’re inspired by. I know they’re made for the store, but I think they would look cool in a house setting, don’t you
