A Little of This, A Little of That

As you know, I love me some modern furniture. But I also don’t mind switching things up a bit every once in a while. So, a few weeks ago when I was introduced to Cymax Furniture, I had no problem spending time (probably too much time) surfing through their website. Needless to say, I was nowhere near bored, as Cymax has tons and tons of products.

You can see above that Cymax has a bunch of modern finds to suit my taste, but I also found plenty of transitional furniture that I would consider putting in my home. (Like a poker table. Who wouldn’t want a poker table? I think I need one!)

One of the main reasons I like Cymax Furniture is that exact diversity. While I typically lean towards more modern furniture, shopping on a site with tons of different options encourages me to have an open mind and expand my horizons to other styles.

What about you? What style of furniture do you typically lean towards? Stay up to date with Cymax and see what different styles their offering by following them on Facebook.

Easy On, Easy Off

When I was a kid, I remember picking out this awesome pink flower wallpaper border for my new room. I was so excited for it to go up, and once it adorned the walls of my pink room, I was sick of it after about a week. There are so many cool wallpaper patterns available, and now as an adult I worry about even going there because I know I would get sick of it way sooner than later.

And then I heard about Ink Shuffle. At InkShuffle.com, you can find tons of wall murals – that are fully removable. And affordable! Where were they when I was living in my pink room? Or when I was renting an apartment or living in a college dorm? These would be perfect for rentals and temporary living.

Oh, and they’re eco-friendly! They’re like the Prince William full package of wall décor. According to their website, Ink Shuffle products are easy to install, as well. The murals and such come pre-pasted, so you soak them in water for approximately two minutes and you’re ready to go. There is a huge variety of different patterns to choose from – from cutesy kids patterns to mature adult scenery.

And then, when you’re sick of it or ready for a change, you peel that baby right off. Nice, right?

But I’ve saved the best part for last. You can upload your own photo. Yup, that’s right. Check it out!

How cool is that? But seriously, if you check out InkShuffle.com, beware: you may spend a lotttt of time there!

Where would you put your Ink Shuffle mural? I’m thinking I’d like mine in the living room behind the sofa, or maybe in the hallway, or by the kitchen table…too many good places for one of these!

The Windows at London’s Fortnum & Mason

Just wanted to share one last detail of my trip to London last week – the windows at Fortnum & Mason!

Again, my apologies for the iPhone photos. But hopefully you can get an idea of how lovely they are. My favorite is the one with all of the peacock feathers – so glam!

Unfortunately, we arrived to Piccadilly Circus too late to check out the inside of the store, but my mom says it’s fabulous and I hope to visit the next time I’m overseas. Have you ever been?

Hopefully, I’ll be able to check out the the beautiful windows in NYC next. What window displays will you be visiting this holiday season?

Bocci 28 in Color

Bocci has introduced a huge range of color in its 28 series collection . Creative Director Omer Arbel’s intent behind 28 was to design a system that produces form, rather than designing form itself. A magnificent success, the pendants are designed to cluster in hexagonal shapes, which nestle into one another. Adding color introduces a grand range of infinite possibilities, from clustering by similar hues to creating amazing multicolor installations

Weekly Six: 12/2/11

Happy Friday! How have the first two days of December been treating you?

After a break from last Friday, it’s nice to be back with a Weekly Six. As always, if you’ve read anything this week you want to share, please do so in the comments! Here are my faves from the past week:

1) Aren’t these Not Knot pillows fun? They’d make a great gift this season!

2) Have you sent out your holiday cards yet? It’s still a bit early, I know but these sparkly letterpress cards are one of my favorites.

3) I might have to order myself some of these delicious-looking chocolates that Oh Joy! was snacking on this week.

4) If you have a second, definitely check out this project called The States, in which the designer fills the outline of each state with something different. I’ll admit, some states were difficult for me to figure out!

5) I need one of these in my office. Gotta look into this immediately!

6) How awesome is this lamp? It’s made from one single sheet of paper folded into a dimensional design.

Six Different Christmas Trees

It’s December 1st and many people out there have already had their tree and other holiday decor up since last week. Are you one of them?

I’m not! I wanted to wait until December 1st this year, just to enjoy that last bit of fall lingering in my house. But now I’m ready to get started and I may even pull in some inspiration from these six different Christmas trees. And since many don’t celebrate Christmas, we’ll have something for Hanukkah tomorrow!

If you do celebrate Christmas, have you decorated your tree yet? Does it look like any above?

Not Knot Pillows

My eyeballs almost exploded when I spotted the Not Knot – Turk’s Head pillow by Ragnheiður Ösp Sigurðardóttir. Love at first sight! Then, I discovered there were three more styles: Ashley’s , Good Luck , and Round Brocade (pictured below, respectively). How Do You Shop for Holiday Decor?

This is a seriously beautiful ornament. Well, at least I think its seriously beautiful. Would you agree?

My only gripe is that it’s $28.00. For one ornament. Now, I don’t think that $28.00 is crazy, crazy expensive for one ornament that I really, really love, but I do wonder – how much I really, really love it. $28 much of love?

Here’s what I’m thinking: You can buy 50 colorful and sparkly ornaments for $15.00 at Target. Granted, each one individually is not as pretty as the ornament from Anthropologie. But together they can be quite lovely. So, is it wrong to buy one single ornament for $28.00? Especially when you only use it for 3-4 weeks out of the year….

My real question here is: what kind of holiday decor shopper are you? We talk a whole lot about shopping for gifts – but what about decor?

Do you splurge on holiday decor or do you stick to a budget and decorate as inexpensively as possible? Or would you buy the case of 50 for $15 and then splurge on the $28 Anthro ornament just because you can’t get it out of your head?!
