From storage pieces to tables, Keir Townsend has created a series of art-meets-furniture for Italian manufacturer Laurameroni . Reminiscent of art sculptures of Donald Judd, these metallic furnishings play with light and trick the eye. The process of making the pieces involves applying a patinated surface to metal strips and then folding them onto the furniture.

Perfectly fitting one cup of tea or one cupcake or muffin, this table puts your food or drink on a pedestal – literally. Crafted from solid ash wood and fitted with a ceramic plate and colorful waxed cotton strings, the shape of the table is inspired by that of a flower bouquet. DesignK is launching their Tea for One Tea Table at Tent London , September 20-23, 2012 at the Truman Brewery. Materials: old Ikea bed frame, single ikea duvet, Ikea Malin Vag fabric, plywood, staple gun, velcro cable ties Description: Did you know that 1 in 10 Europeans were conceived on an Ikea bed? Our little scamp is among that flat-packed-furniture-boot-knockin 10% so even though our bed had it’s fair share of battle scars & we really wanted a funky new frame, I decided to see what creative improvement I could come up with for sentimental reasons – & saved a few hundred euros in the process! As the old Ikea frame was still in excellent, no-squeaking, sturdy-enough-to-bounce-on condition I realized that all that was needed to add some more groove to our bedroom was a new head & foot board. Although I’m pretty comfortable in the kitchen, the one thing I can never grasp is slicing a watermelon. I know it’s not totally difficult and it’s easy to cheat by leaving the outer green shell on – but sometimes I want cubes and I just can’t do it! Does anyone else feel this way or am I totally crazy?
Well, I can’t be totally crazy – because I came across this wonderful graphic on Pinterest yesterday and I had to share because of how well I could relate! From JennySteffens.com, this quick 5-step process shows you how to get those refreshing watermelon cubes you so often crave, especially during this time of year. I don’t know about you but I can’t wait to try this!

Dutch design studio Michiel Cornelissen Ontwerp created Zesch , a line of interlocking coasters that when joined together, can form a trivet. Made from 3-ply sheets of bamboo, from which the shape is laser cut, they can be used alone or connected to create any pattern you happen to like. Don’t they almost look like they could fly through the air like a throwing star (minus the sharp blades of course)? Can you imagine a world where everything is made of cardboard? When you step into L’Atelier Cafe in Romania, that’s kind of what it’s like!
With recycled / green furniture in mind, a project to create an all cardboard-atmosphere was started. Everything from the light fixtures to the tables and chairs is made of cardboard, creating a warm cozy environment for people to hang out and chat over coffee.
If I’m ever in Romania, I would love to check out this cafe. What do you think of completely cardboard decor? Better for commercial spaces or would you implement in your residential space?
