DOK Sideboard by Reinier de Jong

DOK is a sideboard by Reinier de Jong that is made of corroded steel. By allowing nature to create the pattern on the surface, each sideboard is different. To stop the corrosion, each piece is finished with a transparent lacquer. DOK is made of separate pieces that can be individually ordered to create a custom piece. The front and back are made of plywood so that it can be a free standing.

Sjotime Industries

Sjotime Industries (pronounced “Showtime”) is a design and fabrication studio based in Denver, Colorado whose work ranges from large scale custom design/build projects to furniture, bowls and bud vases, and even decorative panels. The studio is headed by Dan Sjogren, whose main goal is to create fresh contemporary design in the real world, not just the computer screen. Most of their work is produced using a CNC machine, but they also create the old-fashioned way, too. One of my favorite pieces is the Coral sideboard (below), which was essentially an experiment in layering and randomness.

The Comet Lamp by Tom Dixon for Veuve Clicquot

Veuve Clicquot , is hosting an exceptional 100 square-meter bar and presenting their special collaboration with Tom Dixon — the Comet Lamp — this week during Art Stage Singapore . The Comet Lamp was designed from a simple, cardboard box transformed into a romantic, beneficent and sparkle — just like champagne — based on the universally attractive laws of geometry. The emblems of Veuve Clicquot and its five-branched star inspired Tom Dixon to reference the comet that was seen in the Champagne region of France in 1811, the year of an exceptional vintage and the first year of the “modern champagnes” that were pioneered by Veuve Clicquot. I’m a sucker for sparkly things designed by Tom Dixon. The Comet with Tom Dixon Photos courtesy of Veuve Clicquot.

Fabricate Lights

There’s nothing fake about the Fabricate lamps.

A self-assembly pendant light, the Fabricate is a unique pendant lamp. It arrives in a flat package that includes the outer cloth, a spiral wire frame and the electrical light fitting. The cloth is available in many different colors and can be twisted and straightened in whichever way you desire.

The fabric of the Fabricate can be sewn with several cloth pockets to create a connected light fixture with one, two or three lights attached, as three are seen together in the image above.

Fabricate lights are designed by the Studio Henry van Nistelrooy, a London based product designer.
