Porcelain Topographies is a collection of benches and stools that utilize the beauty of porcelain in their design. They were created in a limited edition for the Karen Schuessler design studio in Berlin. Designer Judith van den Boom created the Porcelain Topographies collection as a way to bring porcelain back into use.
The porcelain used on the benches is made with a press-mold technique. The models used for the collection were blankets that were folded, stacked, crumpled, or hanging.
To create the benches and stools in the Porcelain Topographies Collection, Judith van den Boom collaborated with a team of people from the Netherlands, China and Germany. The Porcelain Topographies are produced under the name BoomWehmeyer as van den Boom worked closely with partner Gunter Wehmeyer to produce this collection.

Dominic Wilcox has created a new piece called “ Do Not Touch Chair ” for the exhibition About a Minute at the newly opened The Gopher Hole gallery in London. The premise of the exhibition was to “consider the fact that thanks to decades of exponential hyperactive consumption, the time that someone visiting our gallery will spend contemplating your piece is likely to be less than 59 seconds.” So, Dominic Wilcox made a sculpture of a chair from a single 3mm wire. He says “…as a further reference to the gallery context and to play with the idea of holding people’s attention, I added an interactive element.

To encourage limited time on the Internet in favor of maximum time with family and friends (and food and alcohol!), it’s going to be a light week this week. Cappello by Molo is a small lamp lit by LED shaded by a paper “cap” or “cappello” in Italian, and is set upon a cylinder of soft white Carrara marble. The cylinder piece comes from the hole bored through the marble block-shaped base for Arco, the iconic floor lamp designed by the Castiglioni brothers and manufactured by Flos.
