Sometimes you come across such a simple idea and think, “Why didn’t I think of that?” and the Bookmarker by Simple Form Design is definitely one of those times. It’s a bookmark with integrated sticky notes attached making it super easy to flag your favorite pages in a magazine or jot down a note as a reminder in a book. I don’t know about you, but I’m constantly fumbling for a highlighter (which ruins books) and sticky notes (I can’t ever find them) to mark a place in a book that I want to go back to and this solves the problem. The long, flat marker conveniently holds your place in the book with the small pad sticking out of the top making it easy to find. This is something every student should have.

Gorgeous Spaces: A Beverly Hills Housewife
November 9th, 2012 — Designer Stuff
If you watched the premiere of the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills this week, then you likely saw the tour of housewife Lisa Vanderpump’s new home. Although it leans to more traditional/transitional styles than modern, I think it’s still appropriate to share here. Because it’s absolutely beautiful!
I don’t know if I’m more envious of her unbelievable closet or her pink chair at the otherwise white dining table. I guess it would be the closet, because I can always pick myself up a pink chair of my own!
You can view the full tour of her home here – there are 32 photos of it, with tons of mirrored furniture throughout – my dream come true! Most of the home is bright and white, but there are several rooms with dark wood floors that provide the perfect contrast. And the outdoor space – forget it!
Which room is your favorite in this gorgeous home?

Get Out! “In”gage Chair Turns Nature Into A Chair
November 8th, 2012 — Design
Designed by Adrian Wu , Wen Han, and Rongxin Zhang, the Ingage Chair is meant to inspire the user to interact or to “engage” with nature. They’ve modified your average lounge chair to appear submerged in the ground making the user have direct contact with the grass. By rethinking outdoor furniture and bringing the user closer to the earth, their hopes are that it will encourage people to enjoy their surroundings and Mother Nature more.

Product Pick: Fernando
November 7th, 2012 — Designer Stuff
It shouldn’t be a surprise to see yet another mirrored product pick! I didn’t even notice it was mirrored at first, so I’ll try to start switching things up for these posts!
Anyway, the Fernando Chair and the Fernando Bench are a different kind of mirrored, with unique colors that reflect throughout. Designed by London-based Julian Mayor, these chairs are initially made with scale models on the computer and then folded and welded into life.
They’re so gorgeous that I would be afraid to sit on them! What do you think of Fernando??

Metallic Pillows
November 6th, 2012 — Designer Stuff
Being that a Christmas song just came on the overheard radio in a store I was in, I guess it’s time to admit that the holidays are near. Only about 7.5 weeks, is that right? I don’t mind that the holidays are coming, I’m just not looking forward to the cold weather. And shopping. What are your thoughts on the fast-approaching holiday season?
Luckily, West Elm has some fabulous and affordable metallic pillows that can coordinate with your decor for the holidays and then camp out and shine bright for the rest of the year. I’m loving the way the silver and gold reflect off the candle holders and other metallic accessories in both of the rooms above. I had been avoiding looking at any West Elm catalogs or visiting their website because I knew I’d find 109 things that I need to buy. These three pillows are going on that list!
Have you started getting your decorations ready or are you in holiday denial??

DIY to Try: Gilded Lace Champagne Glass
November 3rd, 2012 — Designer Stuff
Due to the lack of Internet from the storm this week, I’m forgoing the Weekly Six and opting for a fun DIY instead. I’ll catch up on all my reading by next week, I promise!!
If you’re spending some time home this weekend, this is a fun DIY that you can put together quickly and then go back to finish the various layers in between activities or chores. All you need is some champagne glasses – or even wine glasses would look great too – doilies, and ModPodge. To view the tutorial for this fun DIY, check out Fabric Paper Glue.
I love the glamorous look that these doilies add to the glasses, don’t you?
