For this month’s installment of Design Store(y) , we hop across the pond, and back a half century, to poke around the flawless mid-century furniture shop, Førest London , which opened this past spring. Owned by Dutch design enthusiast and London College of Fashion graduate, Eva Coppens, the shop showcases Scandinavian and Dutch furniture reupholstered by local craftsmen, vintage lamps, and select pieces of pottery. Coppens recently launched a collaborative collection with eco-friendly print designer Tamasyn Gambell , whose work is stocked by MoMA and Liberty’s of London. Her Bauhaus-meets-modernist prints work perfectly with the vintage aesthetic of Førest London’s Scandinavian finds. In case of emergency: you might need the Anti Crise Chair . Designed by Pedro Gomes , the Anti Crise Chair concept is “an emotion-driven design designed for an era marked by economic crisis. In an era marked by the economic crisis we are pushed to analyze what is our role as designers in the creation of change and definition of new habits.” Basically, this chair is a giant piggy bank. You deposit your money into a slot on the top of the chair.

Hello and Happy Friday! It’s getting a bit depressing thinking that Summer is almost over. I can’t believe that next week is Labor Day already. It’s supposed to be beautiful here in NJ this weekend, so I’ll be enjoying it as much as I can! What are your plans for the weekend?

Materials: Valla kitchen doors, Sätta handle, Placemat (black and red) Description: I planned to make a play-kitchen for my daughter and searched for some inspiration on IKEAHackers. I found several play-kitchen based on the RAST bedside table (like this and this ) and thought that this would be a great idea. So I drove to my local Ikea store for “playkitchen-shopping” and bought the play pots (DUKTIG), plastic kitchen spoons (AKUT) and the wooden stand for those spoons (MAGASIN).

Would anyone agree with me when I saw that the Food Network’s Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives is the worst thing to watch if you’re even just a little bit hungry? If I put that show on, my mouth is immediately watering for something greasy and fattening.
This past Sunday, I put on the TV and sure enough, there was Guy Fieri at a restaurant in Cleveland that serves “mod mex.” They showed about six different types of guacamole, one of them with goat cheese, and I knew I had to try it. Since I’m a big fan of both – why not merge the two? So I did – and it was amazing. I would have taken my own photo, but my camera died, so I had to use the one above! Anyway, here’s the recipe:
Goat Cheese Guacamole
3 ripe avocadoes
1 small tomato, chopped
1 small red onion, chopped
1 large clove garlic, minced
4 ounces goat cheese
1 small pepper – I used habanero
Juice from one lime
Salt and pepper to taste
Mash avocadoes in bowl until smooth. Stir in tomato, onion, garlic, pepper and goat cheese, taking care to break up goat cheese evenly. Add lime juice, salt and pepper to taste and stir to mix. Serve and enjoy!

Oh Carnovsky , I love these new wall decals you designed for Blik . If you recall, we featured Carnovsky’s RGB exhibition a few years back and these new decals don’t fall far from that awesome tree. Using their trademark RGB (red, green,blue) technique paired with a variety of intersecting and overlapping insect, animal and foliage illustrations, these kaleidoscope-like patterns become completely different animals when under specific lighting. I’m pretty sure everyone either had or played on a rocking horse at some point growing up. Well now there’s a Rocking Zebra . The UK-based Newmakers made a contemporary rocking toy with a modern aesthetic that fits in much better than the traditional ones do
