The Portuguese company Matrioskas is back with a new collection of oak furniture that has a bit of a vintage/mid-century feel. The pieces are wood based, as most of their work is , with pops of bright colors that make them even more unique. I just discovered the surface designs of Spanish art and design studio TODO MUTA . They are a relatively new design company based in Seville that creates illustrative patterns and prints for wallpaper, vinyls, prints, textiles and just about anything else you can think about slapping a pattern on. They even developed a line of limited edition ceramics . I love their work because it’s fun enough for kids, especially the wall drawings, but I can see that if used in the right way, the repeating patterns work well for adult rooms, too. Mix them with fun colorful fabrics and you’ve got a more artsy look — it’s exceptionally versatile

Catnapper Choice of Color Fabric Modern Teddy Bear Recliner

Stefan Hepner created Exedra not just as a wall shelf, but also as a wall shrine for all of your important “objects, books and personal relics.” The New York based designer was inspired by those little alcoves that you often find in architecture that hold a statue or something else of high regard. The perimeter of the shelf resembles crumbled paper with a unique texture that makes it look like it was built coming out of the wall. Made from reinforced white resin, the shelf is lightweight while still remaining sturdy enough to hold your stuff. Exedra Shelf by Stefan Hepner

Having grown up with a wood shop in the basement, it’s only natural that Chicago-based designer Jason Lewis would forge a career making furniture by hand. He says, “The activity of building things was always just part of the environment.” After college and a few years of the office grind, Lewis sought out a local woodworker who took on apprentices. Under his tutelage, Lewis learned traditional wood joinery and the craft of building fine furniture. In 2001, he went out on my own, building custom projects for local clients and working on a own line of his own designs. It’s been ten years.
