Designing a room with an accent wall using two different colors of paint has a much different effect than when the accent wall is accented with wallpaper. It’s a little bit more punchy and poppy with the wallpaper, I’d say.
What are your thoughts on wallpaper accent walls?

Young UK-based designer Andy Murray’s SD2.0 shelves were shown last year at Tent London and are now available for preorder . The design is nice and geometric, very simple and yet when you first look at them they look a bit lopsided. Playing tricks on your eyes, the shelves are actually level, but the middle one faces the opposite way, making them only appear to be wonky. PortiqueArmchair by Paris-based designer Florent Coirier is inspired by garden swings as well as the walk-loading of goods from the port of Nantes/SaintNazaire. Working with the craftsmen of the Autonomous Port,GPM Nantes/Saint-Nazaire, Coirier used aluminum tubing, oak and polyester nautical rope, both materials common to shipbuilding. The April issue of Elle Decor arrived in my mailbox last night, but I didn’t even have a chance to look through it yet.
I did, however, have a five minute love session with that gorgeous blue velvet sofa on the cover. Even my living room noticed the cover and started begging me for a sofa that looks just like it! (Too corny?!)
Anyway, have you read the April issue yet? What page was your favorite?

I don’t know about you, but Daylight Savings Time got me good this time. So, I’ve seen the new Saguaro hotel in Palm Springs around the blogosphere, but I hadn’t really checked it out for myself.
Isn’t it perfectly colorful for this tired Monday morning? I really need to be sitting at that pool right now under one of those giant happy yellow umbrellas. It seems like even the meeting room with its fun orange chairs could make the most boring of meetings turn into something fun.
Under service and amenities, not only is it pet friendly, but daily yoga is included in the daily resort fee. Oh yes, please!
And if you’re making the big bucks, you can arrange for a private consultation with the Saguaro’s designers Peter Stamberg & Paul Aferiat of Stamberg Aferiat Architecture and learn how to introduce color into your own home.
So, who wants to go to Palm Springs with me?

Gore Design Co. calls themselves “purveyors of fine concrete” but I call them artists. It takes a lot of skill to make a sink that leaves a long-lasting impression. But Gore hasn’t made just one sink that leaves me speechless — check out my favorites below and then visit their website for more creative designs (including fireplaces, countertops and furniture).

Lapo Germasi is a 24-year-old student from Italy studying industrial design. This chair is one you’ll either love or hate. It consists of a cube of electro-welded PVC, balls of low-density polyurethane and a suction valve. “An empty solid but full of air, elements inserted into it but who fill it only partially
