The Argonaut Collection

Christina Skouloudi Design Studio and Athanasios Babalis collaborated this year on a series of sculptural forms for the tabletop. Called the Argonaut collection , the series of six objects (five wood and one steel) were designed and made in Greece, but will travel the world in exhibitions, not unlike the journey of the Argonauts.

Duo Candle Holder by Oscar Diaz

Oscar Diaz has launched a new candle holder called Duo this week at Maison et Objet for Spanish brand Doiy . Not only is it a handy tea light holder, but if you flip it upside-down, it becomes a candlestick for tapered candles as well. Thus, the name Duo. It’s made of silicone so no wax will stick to the surface, and it has a small handle for easy carrying

Scatter Shelf by Nendo

Nendo is on fire . Their new Scatter Shelf will be presented at the Carpenter’s Workshop Gallery in London during the Frieze Art Fair , and then at Friedman Benda in New York. The shelf is composed of 5mm black acrylic formed into a grid and stacked in layers. They describe the shelf beautifully when they say that it looks as though objects are “caught in a spider’s web when viewed from the front.” Also, when one passes behind, it creates a kaleidoscope-like effect. Photos by Masayuki Hayashi, who also made this little movie

Why don’t you add a little texture, color and fun to your home or to a party by mixing up some tissue paper poms and globes? As tissue paper is available in endless amounts of colors, you can easily control the color scheme while saving big bucks by DIYing it up. If you are limited with the colors of the globe lanterns, why not paint them yourself?

What do you think about decorating with clusters of poms and globes? Would you incorporate them into your home, as in the first two images, or save them for party decor as seen in the last two images?
