Student Sonja Rogova designed this architectural tray in collaboration with the German company Raumgestalt . By investigating a conventional tray’s given criteria — four walls, two handles, flat ground — Sonja found inspiration in architectural models. By adding the stepped platform, she is able to give your food or drink some breathing room. Elda Bellone and Davide Carbone of GSelect have collaborated under the brand new company Scoope Design on a chair called Elda. Elda isn’t just a chair, it’s a multi-functional “chairstepladder.” The greatest part of this design is that you really don’t expect the chair to be more than a chair. It isn’t a chair that kind of looks like a stepladder. That is, until you see it fully unfolded. Certainly a great addition to a small space or just about anywhere with high ceilings

Recent grad Yvette Cox just exhibited her Florence coffee table for the first time at New Designers 2011 . The steam-bent hand-sculpted table base has 13 fluid twisting pieces of wood that interweave. I love how it feels like draped ribbons

The Esher Vase by Michael Nitschke is inspired by his favorite Berlin graffiti artist. The open silhouette design is very different than most closed vases. It evokes a feeling of airiness but also of growth and expansion
