Gradient Cabinet by Ka-Lai Chan

Dutch designer Ka-Lai Chan ‘s latest work, the Gradient cabinet, holds things you want to display while also being a piece of art in itself. Cords made from polyester-covered natural latex are wound around the metal frame and become closer together the higher they go, making the objects that are on display partially hidden.

From the Tel Aviv-based textile duo of Tesler + Mendelovitch comes this line of tables and stools called, Diamond Woods . Sold exclusively through Talents Design Gallery , the collection has a faceted pattern made from their new flexible wood surface material. Clever, Useful Wall Decals from Unwhite

If you’d asked me yesterday whether I thought that there could be a wall decal company that is doing something I haven’t seen yet, I’d have told you no way. However, Unwhite  is a Barcelona-based wall sticker company creates functional wall decor made by designers. Kind of like Tattly for wall decals. Modern Kitchen Accessories by Hlynur Atlason for Umbra

Partnerships happen everyday in the design world and when it’s between a brilliant housewares company and one innovative designer, you have yourself a match made in design heaven. This happens to be the case when the New York-based Icelandic designer Hlynur Atlason recently teamed up with Umbra to create two new kitchen designs – Bento and Tricon . Bento is more than just a cutting board – It’s a cutting board plus measuring cup/storage system. The board acts as a lid to the set of five measuring cups that settle in underneath. Perfect for prepping early and cooking later

Extendable Table by Vidame Creation

This Extension Table  by Vidame Creation  is a pretty cool concept. It looks like an ordinary table, but it’s made of small slats of wood (or Corian) that open up and close through a mechanism that turns the individual pieces on their sides to expand the tabletop – like pushing over a row of dominoes.

Friday Five with Antoine Roset

This week’s installment of Friday Five  highlights Antoine Roset, the great-great-grandson of the founder of French furniture house  Ligne Roset (whose name was also Antoine Roset). Roset, who grew up in Lyon, now lives in New York, and as the Executive VP of Roset USA, oversees the company’s North American division. As a lifelong witness to and key player in this long-standing family business (his father and uncle are the co-owners), Roset has spent more time than most absorbing good design. Let’s see what he admires, shall we? 1. Google The Google search engine is probably the best thing that happened to Internet

Peg Lamp Inspired by a Clothespin by William McDonald

Inspired by the simple slip-on wooden clothes pin (or “peg”), Canadian designer William McDonald designed a lamp that functions in the same way. Called Peg Lamp , the lamp uses minimal materials like aluminum, wood and felt to create a simple sliding mechanism so the user can adjust the light as needed.
