Dream Homes

I browse through the Home Decor section of Pinterest more than I’d like to admit. But it seems that almost every time I browse through, there are always some fancy contraptions or features in beautiful homes. Like everything above – the well-organized pantry, the laundry chute, a two-story bedroom, a fancy sink. I didn’t even include the one I see most often – the pull-out cutting board over the garbage can!

For some reason this got me thinking about if I ever have the chance to build my home or renovate completely, what one feature – or features – would I absolutely require? That laundry chute is pretty fabulous, and convenient, but I’m thinking I would request closet organization as an absolute necessity. While I would love a fancy kitchen with fun accessories and features, to have all closets, including the pantry, with built-in storage – oh, that would be heaven!

What about you – would feature would be at the top of your must-have list if you had the chance to build your dream home?

Cake Pops

A friend and I were talking yesterday about cake pops and now I’m dying to try them. And make them! I’ve seem them in cafes and seen the molds at Bed, Bath and Beyond – but I ‘ve never eaten one. They must be good if there’s such a huge craze over them!

My friend makes them all the time – but says they can be a little bit of a process. I’m thinking these would be a fun thing to make for Christmas – if I can find the time before then! I did find the time to search out a recipe, and this one over at the Kitchn is looking pretty delicious. My friend also suggested making brownie cake pops – they are apparently not as complicated but equally wonderful.

What about you – have you made cake pops? Have any good recipes or tips to share?

Product Pick: Diamond Sideboard

Unless I lived in a gigantic castle-like home, I can’t imagine that this piece would look good in my home. But I love it. LOVE. it.

It’s the Diamond Sideboard and it so grand and exquisite and dramatic. Do you agree? The gold leaf lion feet take a little bit away from the contemporary feel of this product, but who cares?! Sometimes a little mixture of old and new works perfectly together.

Anyway, if you would like the Diamond Sideboard in your home, it is a limited edition piece designed by Boca do Lobo.

What do you think of this week’s product pick, the Diamond Sideboard?

Design & Decor: Square Wreaths

Have you ever seen a square wreath before? Up until this post on Coco + Kelley with the first square wreath above, I’m not sure that I ever have! But now that I have seen them, I am obsessed. What a difference changing the shape can make!

Not that there is anything wrong with a round wreath, but it’s always fun to do normal things a bit differently. Plus, I love the way the shape works with the rectangular shape of a door, even better with square or rectangular windows.

While these are great for holiday decor, the first and fourth wreaths could be used all year long.

What do you think of square wreaths? Do they give wreaths a more contemporary look or do you prefer the traditional round wreath?

Pretty Places That Have Nothing in Common

Today was one of those days where I just wanted to look at gorgeous spaces for some inspiration and something nice and enjoyable to look at. So I went to Pinterest, naturally.

And let me tell you, while I did find ENDLESS amounts of gorgeous living rooms, bedrooms and more, almost every picture I clicked either went to another page on Pinterest or to a Tumblr page with no direct link, just a full page of images – not the one I had clicked on! Needless to say, Pinterest frustrates the heck out of me sometimes with all of its inconsistencies. Does anyone else find that problem? It could just be the type of day I’m having – which is why I’ve included these pretty images above – even though they have nothing in common!

I’m in the mood for a white space with pale pinks and greys and fluffy pillows and fur. I’m not sure why, but that was what I was looking for. I’m constantly drawn to that and may need to recreate a girly grey room in my home – I’m almost there with my bedroom – I would just need to switch out some blues for pinks, if my fiancee allowed!

So anyway, now that I’ve rambled on. What do you think of these spaces? What catches your eye? I know that gold sequin wall sure catches mine!

Product Pick: Tomato Bench

It doesn’t matter who I’m out dining with, but if I’m in a restaurant and there’s an option to sit on a bench versus chairs, I always fight for the bench. Are you like that? There’s just something so cozy and intimate about bench dining.

Which leads me to today’s product pick – the Tomato Bench Dining Set. With this modern dining set, I could have the bench seat every day of my life! Available at Wharfside, the Tomato Bench is made to order, so you can choose from a large variety of leathers and fabrics to suit your style. I’m really liking the fabric and leather contrast in the image above – and I would love to add some bright fun pillows to my kitchen.

What do you think of the Tomato Bench? Would you love to have bench seating in your home?

Domes & Decor: Love This Look?

It seems like large glass domes have been popping up in home decor everywhere. Rather than just putting a piece on display, the glass dome calls more attention to it – almost saying that it’s such a special item that it must be guarded by the dome!

The look is fairly simple, and can be used in SO many ways, as shown above. First, a plant is covered by a glass dome. Then, a series of bright Christmas ornaments are arranged in domes of varying heights. I love this look as opposed to the easy way of putting ornaments in bowls – something I have in my own home! In the third picture, a statue is settled inside a glass dome, giving it a sort of museum vibe.

All three of the images are completely different looks, yet with that glass dome in common.

What do you think of glass domes and home decor – do you love this look or could you do without it? Do you have something like this in your home?

Jeweled Frame Inspiration

Do you ever have an idea of something in your head but you don’t know how to execute it? This is something that’s driving me crazy right now!

I have this idea for jeweled picture frames to use at our wedding to display table numbers. I figure making them myself will be less expensive, but I can’t figure out exactly what I want to do. I love the idea of vintage brooches and costume jewelry, but I know that could get expensive quickly. I found an Etsy show that has tons of Swarovski crystals with flat backs, that aren’t too expensive and I think mixing those with pearls might be what I’m looking for. But then there’s the idea of those flat back marbles you find in the bottom of vases – those are inexpensive and have a nice sparkle to them.

To help myself figure this all out, I created the moodboard above with some ideas. Which is your favorite? Do you have any insight as to how I can recreate these looks on my own without breaking the bank??
