Would You Rather: Chandelier or Drum?

If you had to absolutely choose between one or the other – which would you rather – a chandelier or a drum? And where would you put it?

Chandeliers come in so many different varieties – some ginormous, some smaller, some colored, some clear and sparkly. The one thing I would never choose in a chandelier is lights that look like big fake candles. It just takes away from the glamour effect of a chandelier, if you ask me. Also, I know many kinds of lights are referred to as chandeliers, but for me, I think of beautiful chandeliers in the image above when I think of chandeliers – not anything beaded or crazy like that. Now I’m not saying those aren’t considered chandeliers – just not what immediately comes to mind, ya feel?!?!

So what about drum lights? I have one hanging about my kitchen table and I love it. It’s just a plain linen, not as dramatic as the black shade shown above. But, sometimes you just can’t beat the clean, modern look that a drum shade brings into a room.

So, if push came to shove, I would rather have a chandelier. How about you??

Green Goodness

via Decorpad

Oh my green goodness!

I love this shade of green and the way it covers the entire room and overflows into the ceiling. The bright furniture and canopy bed with curtains adds to its beauty.

What do you think of this room? Would you replicate the look – perhaps with a different color?

Everybody has personal taste and color preferences. I’d recommend to hire an interior designer for your room. And don’t forget about curtains!

DIY: Gift Wrap and Labels

Every where you turn, everyone’s talking about the holidays! There are tons of DIYs for decorations and centerpieces, but how about gift wrap? I like the thought of personalizing paper. Wouldn’t you feel even more special if you received a gift with DIY wrapping paper? I certainly would, and I think it would definitely add even more to the joys of gift giving.

In the latest issue of Sweet Paul Magazine, there are plenty of great and easy ideas for creating your own gift wrap. All you need is plain wrapping paper and you can likely use many things that you have – such as crayons, paint, stamps, craft paper, markers – to create your own work of art.

Then, of course, there’s the labels! I’m loving these DIY glitter labels from Ambrosia Creative. They look easy to make and add the perfect amount of sparkle!

Will you be making your own wrapping paper and / or labels this holiday season?

So Pinteresting: Tufted Goodness

I don’t know which I love more: Pinterest or tufted furniture. Luckily, today I got to combine the two together!

How plush is that tufted green sofa? I love how even the interiors of the armrests are tufted. And how about that turquoise tufted ottoman? I think I am drawn to this for the same reason I am drawn to the sofa – the tufting continues around the ottoman as it does throughout the sofa. You can never have too many tufts!

Which probably means I should tuft every wall in my house like the next image. I would probably even tuft the backsplash in my kitchen if I could!

And, oh that purple tufted headboard. A tufted headboard is one thing, but that purple?! Ooh la la. (PS that post is a DIY on how to make your own tufted headboard!)

Do you love tufts as much as I do? Or could you do without?

Recipe Radar: Pastas

Today’s recipes to keep on your radar are all about pasta – in case you hadn’t noticed! I turned to Pinterest to start scoping out some pasta recipes, but there were far too many that looked far too delicious. So, I decided to include four of my absolute favorites. When I crave pasta, these four recipes are always what I crave.

1) Pasta all’Amatriciana
2) Pesto Pasta
3) Summer Pasta
4) Pasta with Vodka Sauce

Aside from the vodka sauce, these pastas are quick and easy to make. The recipe listed here is rather quick, but the one I like to make typically takes a few hours.

What is your favorite pasta recipe to make?

Sofas in the Kitchen: Love this Look?

There’s no reason you shouldn’t be comfortable while enjoying a meal, right? Or wrong…?

I know sofas have their place in living rooms and sitting areas and dining chairs have their place in the kitchen…but I’m liking it. And I would probably really like it in my own kitchen, until someone came over for dinner and got so comfortable they passed out with their face in my mac n’ cheese.

But until that happens, I’m going to say I love the look of sofas in the kitchen. What do you think?

Ruffle Your Feathers

There’s been a lot of feathers in fashion, especially with that whole feathers-in-the-hair trend. But what about feathers in home decor? While feathers are lovely in both environments, you can’t exactly rock a feather skirt on a daily basis as well as your door can rock a feather wreath. Well, I mean you can…and if I had one of these I would probably want to wear it everyday anyway.

So, back to the feathers. What do you think of them within your decor? Personally, I only like things that have the actual feathers – like what’s shown in the collage above. I’m not really into feather prints or a feather embroidered on a pillow. I want those feathers glued or stitched or whatevered on that pillow!

Here are the items I found above (ps: how cute is the feather bed for your pet?! LOVE!!):       1 /2 /3 /4 /5 / 6

Would You Rather? Acrylic Edition

I have a thing for acrylic furniture. I don’t know what it is, but I love it! So, today’s Would You Rather is all about acrylic!

If you had your choice, would you go for a small acrylic console table? How about a set of acrylic Louis Ghost chairs around your dining table?

Maybe you’d prefer to show off your storage with a gorgeous acrylic trunk? Or would you rather a glamorous acrylic coffee table stealing the show in your living room?

If it were me, I’d choose E) All of the above!! And perhaps you’d choose F) None of the above. That’s ok – because then there’s more acrylic for me! So, seriously – which would you rather? Is your fondness for acrylic as great as mine?
