Based in Mexico, Masiosare Studio is composed of three young industrial designers that aim for functional and accessible design. Flaca , which is Spanish for skinny, is a lamp they designed that meets both of those goals.

Happy New Year! Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday and a relaxing weekend. Are you sticking to any resolutions you’ve made?
I’m not one for New Year’s resolutions or reflections, but there is one tradition (if you can call it that) that I keep with myself every year – entering the HGTV Dream Home contest everyday from the beginning of the New Year until it ends in February. I always thought the contest began on January 1st, but I see this year it started on the 29th. (Oops, maybe being late to the contest can be part of my little tradition!)
My mom got me started on this about five years ago. It’s fun to think about what you would change about the dream home and if you would keep it or sell it, or what. So, while I should be going to the gym with the rest of the world, I’m going to exercise my stellar abilities at filling out the entry form instead!
What about you? Are there any unique, silly, or simple resolutions, traditions, etc that you have for the New Year?

Materials: PERFEKT ABSTRAKT cabinets, plywood, glue, IKEA hardware Description: We have an a walk through space from our dining room to our family room that we use as a bar. Since we moved in early this year, we just threw a collection of random furniture pieces in the space. After not finding anything that fit the space perfectly with the look we wanted, we decided on hacking some kitchen cabinets for this purpose

The Vipp Annual Color 2012—Copenhagen Green—is a tribute to the Danish capital, which also happens to be Vipp’s hometown, and now the site of the company’s very first flagship store. The shade is derived from the many shades of green evident in the cityscape of historical architecture with oxidized copper roofs. Three products are being produced in the new color in the US starting in February 2012: a soap dispenser, a toilet brush and pedal bins in three sizes. Meanwhile, you can still pick items in this year’s annual color (which, ironically, looks like this year’s Pantone Color of the Year ). Did you know that Vipp’s first pedal bin was designed back in 1939?

Futuristic organism or chair? Millipede is a stool/chair created by Michael Samoriz of Umbra Design that’s kind of jellyfish-like. He explains that it’s a “symbiosis of cyberpunk and bionics” and inspired by the look of “Dron” guardians from The Matrix trilogy. I’m always interested to see how designers create pieces of furniture that are not only space-saving, but multifunctional, such as this Sensei chair/table set from Claudio Sibille . Flip the chairs on their sides and piece them together like a puzzle to create a console table.
