Italian product design firm Ex.t recently launched three new products: Fir, a freestanding coat stand/towel rack; the Flat Washstand bathroom vanity; and a ceramic version of its Blub 4 pendant. All broadcast the the sparse aesthetic for which the brand is known, and like its predecessors, embody an exquisite synthesis of form and function. Fir is a sparsely alluring, freestanding, varnished metal coat stand or towel rack.

Last month WHO Gallery , located in Lisbon, Portugal, opened the LESS exhibition with works by Pedro Sottomayor . The exhibition presents new works that lose the excess that forms them, while maintaining their function. I love the three interior/exterior benches and table, made out of perforated metal and how they’re benches are presented as though the pieces of metal have just fallen from the surface like rain

By exploring the potential for relationships between contemporary furniture and technology, David Franklin created this contemporary piece that interacts with you as you work or eat. The camera is programmed and controlled wirelessly to take pictures at predetermined times or at specified intervals over a duration. The resulting pictures are sent back to a computer and can be programmed to upload automatically to the user’s desired social networking site.

You know how some things are just perfectly named? I think that’s the case with this Harvey sofa by Deadgood – their latest seating piece, launched at th Deadgood product showcase during this year’s Design Event . Made in a traditional British country style, the sofa is upholstered in leather and herringbone and houndstooth wools. It’s like Sherlock Holmes if he were a sofa

Hello and happy Fall Friday! Does anyone have a fun weekend planned?
Since I have come down with a nasty cold, I’ll be spending the weekend on my couch – wishing my couch was this awesome Cupcake sofa shown above!
Hopefully, I’ll have enough energy by Sunday to make this Braised Pork as previously planned!
I may waste all that energy convincing my boyfriend to buy me one of these faux beauties.
Anyway, wouldn’t you love to stay in this beautiful home with rooms decorated in Gucci, Louis Vuitton, and Chanel? You’ve gotta check it out!
If you have a scarf addiction, here’s a great way to store them.
And finally, a fun paper mache DIY for you to try.
What good reads did you bookmark this week??

Matthew Cleland of Score+Solder makes these striking terrariums by hand in Pender Island, British Columbia, Canada. Each sculptural planter is made-to-order with handmade glass and lead-free solder and comes with everything you need but the plants. The self-contained gardens come in a variety of geometric shapes for tabletop or hanging. The earthy organic landscape juxtaposed with the modern capsule environment make them simply enchanting.
