BoConcept’s 2011 collection is here and I fell for the Rock Chair , a re-release that’s a mixture of high design and humor. The buttons look like eyes while the shape of the seat curves like a smile. Designer Henrik Pedersen explains that this “anything goes” chair is made for rocking — relaxation and coziness in one. The Rock chair is delivered assembled with stainless steel tubular legs and is available in the entire BoConcept fabric and leather collection, which consists of over 80 different options.

While relaxing in the Mussel Chair.
Designed by Hanne Kortegaard as a graduation project for the Danish Design School, the Mussel Chair is a diverse modern chair. Kortegaard explains on the Danish Design School website that she wanted the Mussel Chair to cater to both children and adults.
Thus, the Mussel Chair can be used as a chaise lounge, as a chair with armrests or a side table. The armrest can also be reversed and used as a stool or a headrest.

British designer Charlie Crowther-Smith (who you may remember from the popular Night Light Table ) sent me over a new coffee table he created called Pinch. It gets its name because of the way the table top is clasped — or pinched — by the legs. The table is made of mesquite with bright green legs. © 2010 Design Milk | Posted by Jaime in Home Furnishings | Permalink | No comments | Tweet This | Share on Facebook

Amiram Biton is an Israeli designer who sent over a series of vases called “My Drop,” hand-blown glass vases inspired by droplets of water. These beautifully delicate creations reflect light and distort what’s inside, much like the real thing. Materials: OMAR shelves, wine rack, basket Description: We need a raised feeding station for our younger cat’s food to be separated from the older cat’s food. With little extra space in the kitchen, I thought that it would be nice to have the furniture serve more than one purpose. That’s when I got the idea to stack the OMAR wine shelves over a set of plain shelves

Citrange is a juicer — designed by Quentin de Coster — that was also designed by and for fruit. It is a product that is innovative both functionally and formally. This squeezer is divided into two parts to better adapt to the various diameters of citrus fruit. The juice is released by cells when the latter are pressed against the walls

IKEA has released a new book called Homemade is Best , created by design agency Forsman & Bodenfors . Inside the book are 30 classic Swedish baking recipes for everything from small biscuits to large cakes — all using pictures. Inspired by high fashion and Japanese minimalism, the 140-page book is stylized with the ingredients getting just as much attention as the end result. Very interesting and eyecandy-licious (and delicious too, I’m sure!). Client: IKEA, Joel Idén Agency: Forsman & Bodenfors Art Director: Staffan Lamm, Christoffer Persson Copywriter: Fredrik Jansson, Anders Hegerfors Account Director: Susanna Fagring Account Manager: Ewa Edlund Planner: Tobias Nordström Photographer: Carl Kleiner / Agent Bauer Retouch: F&B Factory, Henrik Lagerberg Stylist: Evelina Bratell © 2010 Design Milk | Posted by Jaime in Art , Home Furnishings , Style & Fashion | Permalink | No comments | Tweet This | Share on Facebook

Forget Meatloaf and his paradise by the dashboard light. Check out Paradise by the ceiling light, a modern light fixture by Ango, a design company based out of Thailand.
With a hand-finished stainless steel frame, Paradise acquires its interesting look from layers of silk cocoons. Silk cocoons are made in the glands within the silkworm’s body. Typically the cocoons are boiled before being used, but Ango uses the unprocessed cocoons in their natural color for Paradise.
To create the actual fixture, the silk cocoons are attached to thin wires which are then attached to the hand-soldered stainless steel frame, layer upon layer until the full shape is created.
What do you think about this chic ceiling light? Check out Paradise and other cool light fixtures at Ango’s website.
