What a stunning lamp! This piece instantly caught my eye, and the more I found out about it the more I liked it. First, it’s called Petals and designed by Gülnur Özdaglar. Second, and truly impressive I have to say, the round clear “petals” you see are actually made from used soda bottles. The petal like structures within the circles are made from cutting, heating, and hand drawing. Absolutely amazing. See more from the talented designer here.

Have a great weekend, and as always more great design finds coming on Monday!

Normally, I wouldn’t consider the human heart a very attractive thing, but this vase by Eva Milinkovic of Tsunami Glassworks is inspired by its structure and I think it’s beautiful. This is definitely a heart you wouldn’t want to break. Happy ridiculously commercialized made-up holiday, er, Valentine’s Day. We might be cynical, but we do love us some Red Hots ! ©2010 Design Milk | Posted by Catrina in Home Furnishings | Permalink | No comments | Tweet This | Share on Facebook Facebook – Valentine Day – Design Milk – Holiday – Kids and Teens

After digging out of a foot of snow this morning, the question everyone seems to be asking today is “is it summer yet?!” So naturally when I came upon these awesome lounges from Tucci I felt the need to share them with you. I like pretty much anything summer related, but there’s no denying the style and luxurious appeal of these lounges. I mean who wouldn’t want to be sitting there right now!

Pictured here are the Tucci Java Lounge and Tucci Crescent Lounge. Tucci specializes in shade and combining it with style. Their products are designed to hold up in any environment and of course to look good. Learn more about Tucci here.

Created by famous dutch designer Marcel Wanders , the “United Crystal Woods” collection for Baccarat is filled with poetry and beauty. There are four product groups: La forêt des songes (Forest of Dreams): a series of candlesticks and vases combining deeply cut crystal with the lightness of filigree. Les esprits des bois (Spirits of the Woods): a family of deers metamorphosed into exceptional candelabra. Les rois de la forêt (Kings of the Forest): a series of four majestic vases. L’ivresse des bois (Woods of Euphoria): a collection of wine glasses and carafes, engraved with the designer’s favorite seal.

The three limited-edition space-age Hanging Lights by Anthony Clune are available on Tonky Designs and each design reminds me of three distinct things: water, fire, and snow. The designs also vaguely remind me of the colors of the United States flag (if the orange design was a bit more red). This one is called “New Romancer” and it’s a more oblique nod to William Gibson’s landmark sci-fi novel Neuromancer . ©2010 Design Milk | Posted by Catrina in Home Furnishings | Permalink | No comments | Tweet This | Share on Facebook William Gibson – United States – Neuromancer – Facebook – Science fiction

The latest issue of Architectural Digest is all about transparency. Crystal clear and effortlessly brilliant, I’m a big fan of this simple and striking look. Arch Digest has picked ten fabulous images of transparent furniture used at its best.

Today, I’ve decided to share three that are not only my favorites, but also illustrate transparent furniture’s impressive range. Here we see it outside, which is probably its most expected use, in a serene bedroom, and probably most unexpected as part of an elegant table setting (where it also totally works!). Head over to Arch Digest to learn more and to see more fabulous uses of transparent furniture.
