Spanish designer Valvanera Arrieta participated in the European Design Labs Master 2012 with Jaime Hayon at the helm, and the Grid Set was her thesis project. Not only is the design dynamic, it’s functional because the set contains 11 pieces that any table could use including: salt shaker, pepper shaker, oil bottle, vinegar bottle, vase, napkin and cutlery containers, trays and pitchers. The geometric-shaped components are made from wood, porcelain, and glass and work together like pieces in a puzzle. The pieces nest together but also work in various configurations depending on what your table needs. OOS Collection is a minimalist design series by Bangkok-based firm Studio248 . The collection consists of a coffee table, side table, and ceiling lamp. The most distinct characteristic of this collection is the simplicity of the joint between the metal plate and the wood.

Brad Ascalon just announced the launch of his new table collection called Atlas , designed for Design Within Reach . Atlas consists of two walnut tables – a coffee and side table – available with a white or black marble or travertine top. Marble was a big trend in 2012 and I don’t think we’re anywhere close to being done with it moving into 2013. Perhaps travertine (or other natural stone) will be the next big thing? The collection was inspired by the Greek mythological character of the same name, condemned for eternity to carry the heavens on his shoulders. Or, in this case, heavy stone.

I’m skipping another Weekly Six this week, due to all of the holidays, but they’ll be back in action again next week! And since decluttering is still on my mind from yesterday, I started thinking about all of the other areas in my life that I could declutter – and really, the only major thing aside from my home would be my car!!!!
My car doesn’t quite look the one above – does yours? Usually I keep my car pretty empty – but its the trunk that is the worst part. I’m starting to wish that I had a van – because I could keep it as organized as possible, thanks to this awesome van racking I found. This would actually be perfect for my fiance, who has a van for work. It’s always a mess and this would organize it right up!
Maybe I could fit some of those van racks in my trunk somehow. Until then, I’m going to plot my life decluttering plan – from home to my car to my fiance’s van!
Have you thought any more about decluttering your life?

Golf J. Charinrattana of Studio248 will launch his first collection under the name Golf.studio248 at this year’s upcoming imm cologne . The idea for the Cutting Edge Chair is derived from the unique joint between two materials: steel and teak. The steel rod is designed with specific” voids” to lock the wooden structure in place. The joint is made more interesting by the slicing of the wood to draw attention to the beauty of wood’s surface.

The Claudio chair is inspired by a specific architectural element – the arch. Barcelona based architecture office Arquitectura-G designed the Claudio Chair for Indoors as an homage to the repetitious and beautiful curvy arch we all know and love. Arches are more structural elements than aesthetics, but they just so happen to be functional as well

“Crazy cut” (i.e., individually cut by hand) pieces of stainless steel cover each piece in a puzzle-like fashion in the Crazycut series by Phillips Collection . Crazycut Coffee Table and Crazycut Side Table Each piece reflects, almost like a mirror, with its chrome finish and bounces light off it making it a shining focal point in whatever room it’s placed in. We love the crackled imperfection of each piece

My parents have been living in London for the past five years, but have kept their home in the States for when they come back to visit, and when they come back for good. They had never cleaned out a majority of their junk – until yesterday. My mom called 1-800-JUNK and they went on a seriously impressive decluttering binge.
It’s amazing the stuff you find when you declutter your life. I had so much stuff there of my own that I hadn’t cleared out and I found myself wanting to keep many things, but I hadn’t seen them in 7+ years, so why bother? Once I came out of that mentality and into cleaning mode, it was much easier. I’m now motivated to declutter as much as I can in my own home.
I don’t want to make this a New Year’s resolution, but decluttering and getting organized is definitely something I want to do in the New Year, and for the rest of the years to come.
Have you decluttered lately? Or made any similar resolutions/commitments for the New Year?

At first, I took a look at this wall-mounted shelving system and thought, “so what? It’s just a bunch of boxes.” But it’s not. Read on… Created by Korean designer Sehoon Lee , this set of wall boxes does the unexpected. The boxes are actually hinged together so that they can flex and move around each other into different shapes. If you can’t really picture how it works in your head, luckily, there’s a video: Share This: Twitter | Facebook | Discover more great design by following Design Milk on Twitter and Facebook
