The Portuguese company Matrioskas is back with a new collection of oak furniture that has a bit of a vintage/mid-century feel. The pieces are wood based, as most of their work is , with pops of bright colors that make them even more unique. Designed by Baldessari e Baldessari for Starpool, the Star_Lit daybed was originally created for relaxing at a high-end spa but they’ve also made it as a chaise lounger for your home. The daybed appears massive in size but the olive wood cylinders on the ends have a pattern carved into them that breaks up the heaviness and lets light pass through. The pattern in the wood is in the shape of olive leaves. The cylinders are also meant to act as storage for pillows and blankets and whatever else you need to get your relaxation on. Whether in a spa or in a residence, this piece does look cozy and I would definitely be interested in taking a nap on it

A few weeks ago I visited a home that the most beautiful brick wine cellar and it made me think about how tradition most wine cellars are. So, I put myself on a mission for some modern wine cellars, and here’s what I found.
While I do love a nice brick and dark wood, the glass, bright colors and different shapes shown in these modern wine cellars are crisp and cool. It would be lovely to have a space like one of these in my own home one day.

Israeli designer Dror Benshetrit established his studio in New York in 2002, after working in Paris and studying art and product design in The Netherlands. His work, which spans many arenas, from product design and interior design to architecture and urban planning, focuses on what he calls “transformation and movement.” The companies he’s done work for are just as far-reaching: Alessi, Boffi, Bombay Sapphire, Kiehl’s, Levis, Puma, Target just to name a few. We visited his studio in the Garment District for this edition of Where I Work for a glimpse of his environment and models, and of course a chat about this design philosophy and process. Catnapper Toast Bonded Leather Match Motion Transformer Sofa Set

Recently, I have been lucky enough to work from the sunny spot of my backyard. Sitting in the sun or under an awning staring at the pool has been strangely productive for me lately.
Thus, I’ve got outdoor offices on my mind. Working from a lawn chair or outdoor dining chair can’t be that great for my back, so I’m dreaming of a space where I can comfortably work to be even more productive. Unfortunately, it probably wouldn’t be as lovely working outside in the middle of December as it is now. But that’s ok – I’ll take the few nice months any day!
What about you – do you ever work outside? Is it distracting or more productive for you?
