Glass Showers

Shower curtains are a fun way to decorate your bathroom, don’t get me wrong – I am obsessed with mine! But, there’s something about a shower with glass doors that is oh-so sleek and sophisticated.

A glass shower door provides a clean look, as long as you stay up to speed with one of those swiper things. I would take one of those over a mildewy shower curtain liner any day! I had no idea that these glass doors are also referred to as shower enclosures – did you? I’m glad I do in case I have an opportunity to install one in the future! If you require strong and durable shower enclosure, as most people probably do, there are plenty of options that fit the bill and are chic and stylish as well.

Glass Prototypes by Daniele Fratarcangeli

Daniele Fratarcangeli is both a sculptor of glass and a teacher teaching his mad glass skills to others in San Diego, California. Each piece is hand-blown glass that is then mirrored on the interior to give it that reflective quality. Between the mirroring and the shape of the glass, the pieces create shiny optical illusions that are quite mesmerizing. The pieces have an organic shape to them and some are made from clear glass while others have color. The mirroring is what ties them all together and when grouped, they really pop

Glam Rooms for a Blah Day

It’s Monday, the weather is crappy and I’m exhausted after a long but amazing weekend. Is anyone else having a blah day? I’m having trouble staying motivated today, so I thought some glamourous rooms would help me out.

The yellow and gold, lucite and fur and gold stenciled bathroom each provide some nice eye candy to liven up my day a bit. I surely wouldn’t mind being a part of these three gorgeous spaces right now – how about you??

How do you brighten up a blah day?

Possibly the most exciting, and certainly the most immediate installation at the London Design Festival was X3 at Super Brands London, by London-based branding and graphic design studio Creative Research and Development . They built a glass-walled workshop, equipped it with tools and materials and then challenged three furniture designers to each create a chair in just six hours. Sam Weller , Alex Hellum and Jack Smith were the designers to take up the challenge and put their skills on show for the gathering crowds. X1 was Sam Weller, who finished his chair just in time, putting the final wax on in the last few minutes. Sam has studied typography, industrial design and most recently product design at the RCA under Sebastian Wrong

Inspired by the fact that porcelain shrinks when you bake it, Eindhoven-based designer Dave Hakkens decided to explore the material with his Shrinking Jug project.
